We are a small independant heritage consultancy working nationally across England and Wales, focusing on providing advice on the impact of development within and on the historic environment. With over twenty years of experience working for both multi-disciplinary consultancies and for Local Planning Authorities, we have a proven track record of providing high-quality advice on development sites and historic buildings, from pre-purchase through to planning appeals.
Our aim is ensure high-quality advice to clients, in order to enable and progress sensitive and appropriate schemes within the historic environment. Using a combination of professional knowledge and practical experience, we provide the provision of high level strategic advice, the undertaking of a range of heritage assessments, the provision of heritage-focused design advice, and advice on the conservation of historic buildings.
Simon is a highly experienced heritage specialist in providing advice on development within the historic environment and on works to historic buildings. With over 20 years experience as a consultant to private sector developers and in senior public sector roles for both Wyre Forest District Council and Walsall Metropolitan Borough Council, he has wide experience working within multi-disciplinary teams to assess development proposals for their impact on the historic environment. Central to this is his grasp of project priorities and the provision of clear design-stage guidelines and heritage assessments in support of planning applications.
His experience covers all aspects of development within the historic built environment, including development within, to and within the setting of World Heritage Sites, Listed Buildings, Conservation Areas, and Registered Parks & Gardens.
Simon also has considerable experience of negotiation, at design and planning stages of development, and in representing clients during appeals. He has acted as an expert witness in Public Inquiries, and at Magistrates and Crown Court.
